Front End Developer

The synopsis 
We are a rapidly growing digital creative agency and startup factory that is looking for someone to help bring their technical chops with a focus on user experience to our design heavy team.

Our team works on a wide variety of technology projects across the globe. These range from consumer facing mobile apps and websites to predictive analytics dashboards.

We excel at helping our clients find the right problems to solve, developing insights based on both data driven and ethnographic research, rapid prototyping solutions, and user testing.

You Should

  • Be passionate about all things UX and other areas of design and innovation.
  • Research and showcase knowledge in the industry’s latest trends and technologies.
  • Possess a great working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and Javascript.
  • Have a clear understanding of the importance of user-centered design.
  • Ensure UX/UI projects are built to original design specs, while finding news ways to refine user experience along the way.
  • Be able to clearly document and communicate technical requirements to development teams.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with clients in every phase of a project and be able to translate technical issues in simple, understandable ways.
  • Question, adapt, and evolve process on your own initiative.
  • Hold well-planned meetings or know when a problem can be solved faster through email or Slack.

 

What we need help with

PROJECT MANAGEMENT & COMMUNICATION

Foresight
Estimate potential development timelines, workloads, and budgets as well as identify if/when additional resources will be required on a project by project basis.

Demystifying
We’re all familiar with development. However, you should be able to clearly communicate development details in a language that can be understood by a non-developer.

Coordinating
Find and manage additional development resources when needed and establish a workflow which includes managing product backlogs, QA, etc. Quickly understanding client platforms/libraries/restraints is key as well, to quickly outline project needs to define additional needed resources early on.

Agile Development
Work with designers in iterative, coordinated sprints while understanding the importance of the overall UX/UI project goals.

DEVELOPMENT

Front-end Development

We’re looking for the basics here – HTML, CSS, JS. Backend framework knowledge is a plus, but not required. The goal with these technologies is always to craft and refine memorable user experiences, and this should be reflected in your past work. Less testing of every framework out there, and more focus on solving interactive problems.

Code Management

Gitwit thrives on creating and evolving our process project after project. You should efficiently manage Github repositories and staging servers, and always be improving the deployment process.

Creativity

It’s easy to set limitations on the design process based on development needs – what’s more important is you adding innovative ideas to our design process by suggesting interactions, animations, etc. that answer more to “what if?” than “is it worth it?” Having an arsenal of animation libraries and experience is a huge plus here as well.

 

The biggest questions you will continually be asking are “why do we do things this way?” and “what if we tried doing it this way?”

 

Help us be proactive in how we overcome obstacles and develop great technology

We don’t just need someone to come in and start churning through our workload, we need someone to challenge how we approach building great technology on the whole. This includes how we interact with clients, how we hand off designs, and how we manage development. You have the freedom to define and shape this process as much as anyone here.

Never stop innovating

One of the biggest challenges in creating innovative technology is making sure the “innovation” doesn’t stop at design. All too often, teams are not empowered to ask “why?” for fear of changing things after a client has signed off. Designs get tossed over the fence and meanwhile, we forget to continue to ask questions. We need the opposite. Truly innovative technology teams understand that everyone from the lead designer to the QA engineer can come up with great ideas. The question is “did we empower them to speak up, or better yet, act up?”
